What’s New, Wildcats?

After the 2024 season saw Arizona State win the Big 12 after getting picked to finish last in the Big 12 Preseason Media Poll, the league has since done away with the poll. The Wildcats are generally expected to finish in the bottom half of the league, but could surprise folks with with a fresh offensive attack under new offensive coordinator Seth Doege and improved stability on defense with the promotion of Danny Gonzales to defensive coordinator and the return of Wildcat legend and defensive line coach Joe Salave’a.

In the Big 12 Preseason All-Conference Team released on Monday, Arizona did not have a selection on offense or defense. Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt was named the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, with Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez taking home Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors.
