Six days after signing 20 players to their 2025 recruiting class during Early Signing Day, the Wildcats have another commit, and he’s a big-bodied defender from the Lone Star State. On Tuesday, defensive lineman Porter Patton announced his commitment to Arizona via social media.
The 6-foot-7, 260-pound Patton preps at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, the same high school as former UA quarterback and Super Bowl 52 MVP Nick Foles. During his senior year, Patton has recorded 39 tackles, two TFL, and a sack in 13 games. He also competed in track and field in the shot put and discus during his high school career. Patton joins a growing list of multi-sport athletes in Arizona’s 2025 signing class, something Brent Brennan said the staff was key on adding to the roster this offseason.
He chose the Wildcats over offers from Air Force, Marshall, and Navy. Following his commitment to Arizona, 247Sports has since ranked Porter Patton as a three-star recruit.
Patton brings the UA’s 2025 recruiting class total up to 21 members. He is also the seventh member of the class from the Lone Star State, joining linebacker Myron Robinson, cornerbacks Swayde Griffin and Gianni Edwards, safeties Coleman Patmon and Kason Brown, and running back Wesley Yarbrough.
