Official visit season is underway, which means summer commitment season is as well. After hosting recruits the last two weekends, the Wildcats have secured their first commitment of the summer. On Sunday, 2026 in-state offensive lineman Malachi Joyner committed to the Arizona Wildcats.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Joyner is a native from up the I-10 in Gilbert, Arizona and plays his high school football at Williams Field. Per the 247Sports.com internal ratings, Joyner is the No. 17 player from the Grand Canyon State and 108th-rated offensive tackle in the class of 2026. He does not currently have a composite rating. Joyner held offers from 15 programs including Boise State, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, San Diego State, UNLV, and more. He visited the Golden Gophers during the last weekend of May, before his official visit and commitment in Tucson this weekend.

Like a number of other recruits under Brent Brennan and Co., Joyner is a multi-sport athlete. In the 2025 State Track and Field Championships, he finished 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 56′ 0.25″ and had personal best throw in the discus of 157′ 8″.

Malachi Joyner is now the sixth player committed to the Arizona Wildcats’ 2026 recruiting class. He is the second player from Arizona, joining three-star safety/wide receiver Hamisi Juma, who also took an official visit to Tucson this weekend. He is also the second offensive lineman, alongside three-star Michael Langi, the younger brother of 2025 signee Peter Langi. Between the recruits Arizona has hosted over the past two weeks and more players scheduled throughout June, the Wildcats are sure to land a number of other commitments in the coming days and weeks.
