In a matter of days, Arizona went from having no guards, and just one player on the roster, to two guards and three players in total. On Wednesday, the Wildcats added one more guard into the fold, and she’s a top prospect from the class of 2025. Former Virginia guard Kamryn Kitchen is transferring to Arizona, she announced via social media.
The 5-foot-9 guard from Charlotte, North Carolina should be wrapping up her senior year of high school and preparing for her freshman season of college. Kitchen is the No. 57 prospect in ESPN’s 2025 Hoopgurlz rankings, but enrolled early after reclassifying to 2024. She did not see any action in her freshman season at Virginia after suffering a foot injury that required her to redshirt. She will have four years of eligibility remaining at Arizona after entering the transfer portal with a “Do Not Contact” tag, per Talia Goodman of On3.com.
While she has yet to record any stats in a collegiate game, if she can produce anywhere like she did in high school, Becky Burke and Co. have got a good one. Kitchen shot 54 percent from the field, including 42 percent from 3-point range during her junior season at Independence High School in Charlotte. She also received all-district honors in 2023 and 2024, and was the Southwestern 4A Player of the Year in 2023. Kitchen was also one of 14 players nationwide to earn an invitation to Golden State Warriors’ superstar Steph Curry’s shooting camp in 2023.
The back court is starting to take shape under Becky Burke, with Kamryn Kitchen becoming the fourth guard transferring to Arizona in five days. She is one of four guard transferring to Arizona since Becky Burke’s arrival, joining Buffalo’s Lani Cornfield, Cleveland State’s Mickayla Perdue, and Memphis’ Tanyuel Welch.
