Offensive coordinator Seth Doege said on Saturday following Arizona’s Spring Showcase that he was looking to add another interior offensive lineman via the transfer portal. Well, his wish came true on Tuesday, when former Albany offensive lineman Chance Roberts committed to Arizona.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Roberts is a native of Hilliard, Ohio and spent the last season at Albany. He appeared in all 12 games for the Great Danes last season. He played seven games at left tackle, and started five games at left guard, per Pro Football Focus (PFF). Roberts also worked under former Arizona offensive lineman Jacob Alsadek, who was the offensive line coach at Albany the last two seasons.

Prior to his lone season at Albany, Roberts spent three seasons at Tiffin University, appearing in 15 games for the Dragons during three seasons.

Doege’s interest in adding more size and depth on the interior of the offensive line came after Georgia Tech Jordan Brown, who started at left guard throughout the spring, suffered an upper-body injury during spring camp and will be out for an undisclosed amount of time. The Wildcats also moved former defensive tackle Chubba Ma’ae, who played offensive line in high school, the left guard this spring.

Chance Roberts is the sixth offensive lineman committed to Arizona via the transfer portal, joining Brown, tackles Tristan Bounds (Michigan) and Ty Buchanan (Texas Tech), guard/center Ka’ena Decambra (Hawaii), and guard Isaac Perez (Portland State).
