The inaugural staff at Arizona under Becky Burke appears to be rounding out. Burke’s latest addition is someone with Big 12 experience who can help acclimate her to the her first year in the conference and at the Power 4 level. On Thursday, Texas Tech associate head coach Ashley Odom was named to the same position at Arizona.

“Ashley brings a tremendous resume of coaching experience to our staff. Her time spent in the Big 12 is going to be extremely valuable to us,” said Burke in a release on Thursday. “Ashley is a great basketball coach, elite recruiter, and even better person. I couldn’t be more excited for our young women to be around her everyday.”

Odom spent the last five season in Lubbock, and served as the Lady Raiders’ associate head coach and recruiting coordinator last season. With guidance from Odom, Texas Tech finished with a 19-18 record, while juniors Bailey Maupin and Jasmine Shavers both earned back-to-back All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selections. As recruiting coordinator, she was an integral part of recruiting Kalysta Martin, the No. 64 prospect in ESPN Hoopgurlz 2024 rankings.

Prior to her time in Lubbock, Odom spent seven years at UT Arlington, helping lead the Mavericks to a Sun Belt regular season title and WNIT appearance in 2018-19. She earned Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Division I Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2017. Prior to that, the Mesquite, Texas native spent time at Lamar.

As associate head coach, Ashley Odom will be Becky Burke’s right-hand woman at Arizona. She is now the fourth addition to Burke’s staff in Tucson, joining assistant coaches Julie Brase-Hairgrove, who spent 18 years coaching in WNBA, and James Ewing from Buffalo. The Wildcats also named Michelle Marciniak as the first general manager in program history.
