While the 2026 Early Signing Day is just days away, Arizona’s recruiting staff has also been busy locking down one of the top players from State 48 in the 2027 recruiting class. On Monday, Arizona landed a commitment from 2027 three-star wide receiver Trey Smith.
The 6-foot-0, 165-pound pass catcher is from Gilbert, Arizona and preps at Williams Field High School. The speedster hauled in 36 receptions for 695 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games during his junior season for the Black Hawks. In his career, Smith has 51 receptions for 992 yards and four touchdowns. Smith also tallied 399 kickoff return yards as a junior, finishing with 1,111 all-purpose yards this season.
Per 247Sports.com, Smith is the No. 10 player from the Grand Canyon State, 72nd-best wide receiver, and No. 569 overall prospect in the class of 2027. Smith held offers from 15 programs, including ASU, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Miami, and more.
The commitment not only signifies Arizona’s continued focus on recruiting the state of Arizona first, and also shows Brent Brennan and Co.’s ability to retain top talent and keep high-profile prospects home. Trey Smith is the first offensive player to commit to the Arizona Wildcats’ 2027 recruiting class and is just the second player overall, joining Texas defensive back Jalani Culpepper.
