Arizona sophomore guard Kailyn Gilbert has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week.
Gilbert averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, and 83.3 percent from beyond the arc in two games last week for the Wildcats.
In the 88-75 loss against No. 5 Texas, Gilbert scored a career-high 26 points, while shooting a perfect three-of-three from 3-point range.
She followed up her career-night with a 19 point, six rebound, four assist performance in a 91-52 win over in-state rival Arizona State, shooting 7-of-10 from the field, including 2-of-3 from deep. Her 19 points and four assists were both team highs.
After the win in Tempe, Arizona head coach Adia Barnes described Gilbert as the “catalyst” for the Wildcats’ offense, saying, “I thought we did a really good job of everybody trying to look for the next person. That’s a sign of growth, because we weren’t doing that before. We would dribble and not look up. I thought Kailyn is the one who was the catalyst on that. She’s the one who gets us going.”
This is the first Pac-12 Player of the Week Award for Gilbert, who was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week in November of 2022.
