If there’s one position Arizona lacked depth at this past season, it was at tight end. After adding their third transfer tight end this week, the Wildcats won’t have to worry about that in 2026 and beyond. On Thursday, Arizona received a commitment from San Diego State tight end transfer Arthur Ban.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Ban is originally from Beaverton, Oregon, but played his high school football in Vancouver, Washington. He spent the last two seasons in San Diego with the Aztecs, primarily a special teams player. He appeared in one game as a true freshman in 2024 and seven games last season, but did not register a stat.
Ban will have three years of eligibility for Arizona.
Tight end is clearly part of the focus for Brent Brennan and Seth Doege this offseason. Arthur Ban joins a revamped Arizona tight end room that now includes Illinois transfer Cole Rusk and Southern Miss transfer Shane King. With Sam Olson and Cam Barmore exhausting their eligibility, the Wildcats will need all the depth they can get. Tyler Powell, who suffered a season-ending injury on the first offensive player of the season, is the lone tight end with starting experience returning to Tucson next season.
Ban is the eighth transfer player the UA has added this offseason, and fourth on offense.
