One of the staples of Arizona’s running back room under Alonzo Carter was having a stable of players to rotate and keep fresh. And while it’s now Lyle Moevao leading the room, the philosophy hasn’t changed. On Wednesday, Arizona landed a commitment from former Marshall running back Antwan Roberts.
The 6-foot-1, 203-pound tailback comes to Tucson after spending the last three seasons in Huntington. He was limited to just three touches as a freshman in 2023, before suffering a season-ending injury in 2024 that limited him for the entirety of the season. Roberts bounced back in 2025, finishing with 90 carries for 512 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged a whopping 5.7 yards per carry as a redshirt junior.
Roberts also reunites with Arizona offensive coordinator Seth Doege, who held the same role at Marshall in 2024. He will have two years of eligibility remaining, per ESPN’s Max Olson.
With the commitment from Antwan Roberts, Arizona has plenty of options at running back next season. Kedrick Reescano will be the lead back, supported by returner Quincy Craig, but also has young exciting prospects in Wesley Yarbrough and Cornelius “Corn” Warren III that add power and speed to the backfield, respectively.
Roberts is the lone running back the Wildcats have added via the portal, and 20th new player from the portal heading to Tucson.
