As Becky Burke and her staff continue to get more settled and established in Tucson, so is her recruiting. After having to piecemeal a roster together via the transfer portal ahead of her first season, Burke and the Wildcats put together one of the nation’s best 2026 recruiting classes and are off to a hot start for next season. The proof? On Tuesday, 2027 four-star forward Celsy Colombo announced her commitment to Arizona Women’s Basketball via social media.
The 6-foot-3 native of Yorkshire, New York ā located less than an hour away from Buffalo ā almost certainly had a relationship with Burke when she and the staff were with the Bulls. Colombo held offers from more than a dozen Power 4 programs, including Clemson, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, Syracuse, TCU, and Virginia Tech, but needed just four days following her official visit to Tucson to commit to the Wildcats. She is the No. 96 overall prospect in ESPN’s 2027 ratings, the No. 48 player per 247Sports.com Composite, and a top 10 player from the state of New York per Prep Girls Hoops.
The up-state New York native currently preps at St. Mary’s High School, where she was a Monsignor Martin Class A All-Catholic First-Team selection after averaging 11.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.1 steals per game last season for the Lancers. Colombo also has a history with USA Basketball. She was a finalist for the 2025 U16 National Team and also participated in the 2026 U17 National Team trials back in May. She also plays for the club Exodus NYC, a Nike EYBL program.
After boasting the Big 12ās best class in 2026, ranked No. 17 nationally, Becky Burke and Arizona now have a pair of top 100 prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, with Celsy Colombo joining four-star wing Brieana Brown, who committed earlier this month. The Wildcats also had Dasia Scott, the No. 68 player in the ’27 class per ESPN, on campus last weekend for an official visit.
