Fifita takes home Big 12 Player of the Week Honors
After cementing himself as the greatest quarterback in program history, Noah Fifita is taking home some weekly conference honors as well. After leading Arizona to a 42-17 win over Northern Illinois, Wildcats’ quarterback Noah Fifita has been named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
Fifita completed 31-of-34 passes for 325 yards and five total touchdowns, including four through the air. Fifita, who now has 10,017 career passing yards – the most in Arizona program history – passed Nick Foles in the record books, who previously held the record for 15 years. His 91.2 completion percentage also broke the Arizona single-game completion percentage record with a minimum of 30 completions, also surpassing Foles’ record from 2010.
It’s the first weekly conference award for Fifita or the Wildcats this season and third Big 12 Player of the Week award of his career. Fifita was also a five-time Pac-12 freshman of the week during the 2023 season.

While Pac-12 After Dark certainly looks a lot different than it did when Arizona was a member of the Conference of Champions, that doesn’t mean the Wildcats still don’t have late kickoffs in the Big 12. The league announced on Monday that Arizona’s Big 12 home-opener versus Cincinnati on Saturday, October 2, will kick off at 8:00 PM MST on FOX.
It’s the latest kickoff the Wildcats have had in over a season, with the last 8:00 PM or later kickoff dating back to November of 2024 against Houston.
Last season, Arizona upset No. 25 Cincinnati 30-24 at Nippert Stadium in the Buckeye State. The Wildcats’ defense opened the game with an interception on the first play from scrimmage and Noah Fifita became the program’s all-time passing touchdowns leader with a 15-yard strike to wide receiver Giovanni Richardson.
Before returning home to host the Bearcats for the first time in matchup history, Arizona heads to Pullman for a game against former Pac-12 rival Washington State on Saturday, September 26, at 4:30 PM MST on CBS.
