After picking up four commitments during its first weekend of hosting 2025 recruits on official visits, the Wildcats picked up their fourth commitment of the day on Sunday. Following an official visit to Tucson, three-star cornerback Swayde Griffin flipped his commitment from future Big 12 rival Texas Tech to Arizona.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back currently attends Largo Vista High School in Largo Vista, TX, a suburb outside of the Austin area. Griffin is not only a standout defender, but also an accomplished track runner. As a junior, he took home the Texas 4A 110-meter hurdles title with a time of 13.75 seconds.

Griffin held offers from four programs, Arizona, Arizona State, Minnesota, and Texas Tech, before originally committing to Texas Tech on June 10 following an official visit the weekend before. 247Sports.com ranks him as the No. 139 player from Texas, 78th-best cornerback, and No. 864 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.

Swayde Griffin is the third player in the 2025 recruiting class that flipped their commitment to Arizona, joining three-star Northern California quarterback Robert McDaniel from Cal, and three-star in-state cornerback Dajon Hinton from Arizona State. Griffin is also the fourth cornerback commit and fifth pledge from the Lone Star State in the Wildcats’ 2025 recruiting class, the most Arizona has had from Texas since six players committed to the Cats in 2021.

Griffin joins Hinton, three-star safety Allen Gant, and three-star offensive lineman Sione Tohi, as one of four players that committed to the Arizona Wildcats on Sunday.
