Between the pool parties, hamburgers and hot dogs, and fireworks, Brent Brennan and Co. received some good news from up the I-10 this 4th of July. On Thursday, 2025 three-star wide receiver Gio Richardson from Chandler, AZ committed to the Arizona Wildcats.
Richardson, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound wide receiver, currently attends Basha High School. In 12 games last season as a junior, he hauled in 55 receptions for 893 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also was a member of the Basha team that took home the Arizona Open Division state championship crown during his sophomore year in 2022. With his speed, he flashes as an effective route runner and can break away from defenders once he gets into the open field. Per his Hudl reel, he also takes reps as a kick returner.
247Sports.com rates Richardson as the No. 7 player from Arizona and 160th-best wide receiver in the class of 2025. He is also the No. 1,033 overall prospect in the 2025 class. He held offers from eight programs and named Arizona, Arizona State, and Kansas State in his Top Three after taking official visits to the UA on June 21, and Kansas State on June 14.
With Gio Richardson committed to Arizona, the Wildcats now have four of the top 15 in-state players in their 2025 recruiting class, including CB Dajon Hinton, QB Luke Haugo, and DL Kaleb Jones. Bobby Wade now also has two wide receiver pledges in the class of 2025, after three-star Terry Shelton from Carrollton, Texas committed in mid-June.
