One week into the Brent Brennan and Big 12 era at Arizona, and wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is picking up right where he left. Following a record performance in Arizona’s season-opening victory, Tetairoa McMillan is the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

As the Wildcats have only played one game as a member of the league, McMillan is the first player in program history to earn Big 12 weekly honors.

In Saturday’s 61-39 victory over the New Mexico Lobos, T-Mac set the Arizona single-game receiving record with 304 yards on 10 catches, and tied the single-game scoring record with four touchdowns. Jeremy McDaniel previously held the single-game receiving record with his 283 yards performance Cal in 1996, while Jacob Cowing set the single-game touchdown record last season, in 2023, against USC. McMillan was also 11 yards short of breaking the Big 12 single-game receiving record, set by Baylor’s Terrance Williams back in 2012.

Following Saturday’s game, Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita had this to say about McMillan’s performance: “I think this might be his best. 300 yards and four touchdowns, I don’t think he’s ever had that stat line before.”

According to OptaSTATS, McMillan is the first player in FBS history to have a game with 10-plus receptions, over 300 receiving yards, average 30.0 or more yards per reception, and four or more receiving touchdowns. All four of McMillan’s touchdowns were “big plays”, with scores of 69, 17, 78, and 40 yards.

This marks the second conference offensive player of the week award for Tetairoa McMillan, who earned Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week following Arizona’s 2023 Territorial Cup victory. He also picked up a pair of Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors in 2022.

The Wildcats return to the field on September 7 to host NAU on ESPN+.
