With the Arizona not hearing its named called on Selection Sunday for any of the three postseason tournaments, the offseason has officially begun. Across the country, coaching staffs are getting refreshes and players are announcing their future plans, with the same being true for Becky Burke and the Wildcats. Arizona Women’s Basketball Director of Operations Allese Williams will not return next to Tucson next season.
Williams posted a video to Instagram that included the caption, “Next chapter loading…”, while sources also confirmed the change to AZ Band Cat Sports.
In her lone year in the Old Pueblo, Williams was responsible for day-to-day program logistics, travel coordination, and assisted in the planning and execution of team events and recruiting operations. She followed head coach Becky Burke from Buffalo, after spending two years with the Bulls in the same role. The connection between the two dates back longer than just Buffalo though, with Williams playing for Coach Burke at Embry-Riddle in Prescott, AZ for two seasons from 2016-18.
Becky Burke and the Wildcats have already begun retooling the staff, with an announcement on Monday that former Kent State head coach Todd Starkey is joining the staff as the program’s next associate head coach. General Manager Michelle Marciniak also previously announced she is stepping down from her role in order to help care for her mother, who is battling Alzheimer’s disease.
