LAS VEGAS – While Arizona doesn’t speak until the second day of the 2024 Big 12 Football Media Days in Las Vegas, that didn’t stop the Cats from making some headlines during Day 1. On Tuesday, Arizona revealed a new alternate helmet that will debut in the program’s inaugural season in the Big 12 via social media.
The new alternate helmet will be white and feature a cursive/script “Cats” decal in red font. It’s the same logo that’s currently on the hip of the team’s game pants. The helmet also has a chrome-red face mask, as well as a red, white, and blue striped decal running down the crown, which matches the team’s primary helmets featuring the “Block A” and blue face masks.
It appears to be the first Arizona helmet that does not feature the “Block A” since the cursive or “snake” UA logo that graced helmets from the early to mid-1970s.
Arizona has yet to release when it will debut its alternate helmet, but some options that make sense include the season opener against New Mexico State on August 31, the Big 12 home opener against Texas Tech on October 5, or Homecoming against Colorado on October 19.
