On Wednesday, Arizona was handed its first loss of the season by in-state foe Northern Arizona after falling 92-75 in Flagstaff. It wasn’t all bad news though, as Arizona received a commitment from 2025 small forward Jasmine “Jazzy” Gipson. Gipson’s announcement was posted on Arizona’s social media accounts midway through the third quarter of the game.
The 6-foot-0 small forward is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, but plays her high school ball at Duncanville HS in Texas. Gipson is off to an impressive start to her senior year through the first seven games of the season. The future Wildcat is averaging 13.9 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.0 APG, 2.0 SPG. She also plays club ball for the Lady Jets AAU, coached by former Arizona Wildcat and national champion, Jason Terry.
Gipson held offers from nearly 20 Division I programs, including Appalachian State, Davidson, Hawaii, Louisiana, New Mexico, Penn, and more. She originally committed to Florida Gulf Coast, before backing off her pledge following a coaching change. ProspectsNation.com rates Gipson as a four-star player and a member of its Elite 150 rank.
Jasmine “Jazzy” Gipson becomes the second member of the Arizona Wildcats’ 2025 recruiting class following Wednesday’s commitment. She is the second commit in as many weeks for the Wildcats, joining signee guard Roxy White from Chicago.
