Brent Brennan said on Early Signing Day, and has repeated throughout the month of December, that wide receiver is an area of focus for the Wildcats in the transfer portal. On Wednesay, Arizona landed a commitment from former Washington State wide receiver Kris Hutson, who announced his decision via social media. He is the second addition at wide out for the Wildcats this offseason.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound pass-catcher appeared all 12 games for the Cougars this season. Prior to that, Hutson spent four years in Eugene as an Oregon Duck. During his career, he has 134 receptions for 1,619 yards and four receiving touchdowns. This past season at Wazzu was his most productive by far, finishing with 54 catches for 683 yards and two scores. He also carried the ball four times for 28 yards and another touchdown. Hutson has one year of eligibility remaining.
Hutson was a four-star prospect in the class of 2020, and was a top 40 wide receiver and in the top 250 overall prospects in the recruiting class, per 247Sports.com.
Kris Hutson is the second wide receiver pickup via the transfer portal for Arizona, after Luke Wysong from New Mexico announced his commitment over the weekend. While it will likely be impossible to replace Tetairoa McMillan, perhaps the Wildcats can make up for his production by committee next season.
