The Arizona Wildcats are hours away from facing Duke in the Sweet Sixteen, but that hasn’t stopped Tommy Lloyd and Co. from landing one of the best prospects in the country and top recruits in program history. On Thursday, 2025 five-star power forward Koa Peat announced his commitment to Arizona via the Pat McAfee Show.

The six-foot-eight, 235-pound Peat is a native of Gilbert, Arizona, and currently preps at Perry High School. During his four-year career at Perry, Peat led the Pumas to four consecutive Open Division State Championships, includes a 2025 title while playing with a broken hand. He is also the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Arizona for three consecutive years, and a 2025 McDonald’s All-American selection.

Per 247Sports.com, Peat is the No. 1 player from the state of Arizona, 4th-best power forward, and No. 8 overall prospect in the class of 2025. After taking an official visit to Tucson last October, he ultimately chose the Wildcats over Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, and Texas. Peat’s commitment makes him the fifth-highest pledge in Arizona program history, behind only Deandre Ayton, Stanley Johnson, Aaron Gordon, and Ndudi Ebi (who never played for the Wildcats).

Koa Peat joins a relatively small 2025 recruiting class for the Wildcats, that features five-star small forward and Top 25 signee Dwayne Aristode, as well as three-star guard and son of LeBron James, Bryce James.

The commitment from Koa Peat also demonstrates Tommy Lloyd’s ability to recruit premier talent to Arizona, something he has been criticized for during his time in the desert. The Wildcats are also still holding out hope for five-star guard Brayden Burries, one of the top uncommitted recruits remaining in the 2025 class.
