The Arizona Wildcats started out the day with two additions in the transfer portal. By midday, that number had doubled. On Monday, Arizona landed commitments from former San José State cornerback Michael Dansby and Texas cornerback Jay’Vion Cole.

Michael Dansby is reuniting with Brent Brennan after spending the past three seasons at San José State. During that time, Dansby appeared in 32 games, tallying 70 tackles, 20 PBU, five interceptions, and 98-yard pick-six in 2023 against No. 25 Fresno State. This season, he started 11 of 12 games for the Spartans, finishing with 37 tackles, nine PBU, and two interceptions.

247Sports rates the 5-foot-11, 181-pound Oakland, California native as a three-star transfer prospect. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Jay’Vion Cole took a windier journey to ultimately land in Tucson. Cole began his college career at Cal Poly. As a freshman, he appeared in 11 games, finishing with 20 tackles, four interceptions, five PBU, and a blocked kick. He transferred to San José State as a sophomore, where he started all 13 games, registering 38 tackles, 10 PBU, and three interceptions, garnering an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention in 2023.

This past season, he played sparingly under former Arizona DC Johnny Nansen at Texas, appearing in four games, and finishing with an interception an UL-Monroe. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Commitments from Michael Dansby and Jay’Vion Cole, former high school teammates at McClymonds HS in Oakland, give Arizona some much needed depth in the secondary. Since the transfer portal opened, the Wildcats have seen starting corners Tacario Davis and Emmanuel Karnley enter.
