It may have been a long wait, but the chance to play for the defending Super Bowl champions is certainly worth it. With just three picks left in the draft, a player who made an impact in his lone season in Tucson is now heading to the Pacific Northwest. Arizona cornerback Michael Dansby has been selected in the 7th round of the NFL Draft with the 255th overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks.
Dansby began his career at San Jose State under Brent Brennan before reuniting with him at Arizona for the 2025 season. In his lone year in the Old Pueblo, Dansby appeared in 12 games, recording 19 tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery, and 12 pass deflections. He came up huge for the short-handed Wildcats in the Holiday Bowl against SMU, tallying two tackles, an interception, and two pass breakups in his final collegiate game.
He finished his collegiate career with 87 total tackles and seven interceptions.
Dansby is the fourth Arizona player to hear their name called in the 2026 NFL Draft, joining defensive backs Treydan Stukes (Las Vegas Raiders), Genesis Smith (Los Angeles Chargers), and Dalton Johnson (Las Vegas Raiders). The Wildcats have now had four players taken in back-to-back NFL Drafts for the first time since 2007 and 2008. It is also the first time the program has had four defensive backs selected in the same draft.
He joins a stout defense in Seattle that features a loaded secondary with players like Nick Emmanwori, Julian Love, Josh Jobe, and Devon Witherspoon.
The first opportunity for Dansby to begin competing for a spot on the 53-man roster comes in early May, when teams have an opportunity to host three-day post-Draft rookie minicamp from either May 1-4 or May 8-11.
