In no fault of her own, the non-conference opponents on the schedule during Becky Burke’s inaugural season left plenty of room for opportunity. After not facing any Power Four competition and just one mid-major opponent to start the 2025-26 season, next year’s level of competition is already raising the bar. Arizona women’s basketball will open the 2026-27 season against Stanford in the Hall of Fame Series in Las Vegas.
The matchup is part of a four-game event that also features the Arizona men’s basketball team squaring off against former Pac-12 rival UCLA. Other games including a men’s matchup between Gonzaga and Purdue, and a women’s contest between USC and UNLV.
TNT Sports’ networks and platforms will nationally televise all four games in the series. Additional broadcast details and game times are not yet available.
It’s the second time in the last four seasons both Arizona’s men’s and women’s basketball programs will play as part of Hall of Fame Series multi-game event. The Wildcats men’s program faced Alabama, while the women faced Gonzaga in Phoenix back in 2023. It’s the second straight year Arizona men’s basketball will open the season in a Hall of Fame Series event, defeating the Florida Gators in Las Vegas to open the 2025-26 season.
“We are thrilled to be opening our season as part of the Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase,” said head coach Becky Burke in a statement. “The opportunity to challenge ourselves right out of the gate against a quality opponent is something we’re really excited about. It’s also an incredible opportunity for our fan base to travel and support U of A Basketball, having both Arizona men’s and women’s programs competing in the same tournament. We’re really looking forward to it. Bear Down Baby!”
