Becky Burke and the Arizona Women’s Basketball coach staff spent most of their first spring and summer in Tucson constructing a roster. Well now, the Wildcats have added a surprise late addition to the 2025-26 squad less than two months out from its first exhibition game. On Wednesday, 2025 Nigerian post Blessing Adebanjo committed to the Arizona Wildcats.

The 6-foot-3 post, who is listed as both a forward and center, is originally from Lagos, Nigeria, but but played most recently in Japan. She comes to Tucson as a sophomore and will have at least three years of eligibility remaining.

Last season, Adebanjo averaged 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds (team-high), 4.0 assists, and a whopping 7.7 blocks per game as a freshman at Yamanashi Gakuin University. Adebanjo took home the leading scorer award last season, and also garnered Rookies Tournament’s Best 8 and Best 5 selections and Athlete of the Year honors.

“Blessing is an incredible athlete. She is long, versatile and exactly what we are looking for in the caliber of players we need to compete for a Big 12 championship. We are very lucky to have her and expect Blessing to be an immediate impact on our team,” said head coach Becky Burke following Adebanjo’s commitment.
