Freshman guard Lauryn Swann has only played five games in an Arizona uniform, but already she’s making her presence felt. On Monday, that impact was recognized, when Lauryn Swann was named Big 12 Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.

The former four-star recruit from Queens, New York erupted for a career high 19 points on 8-9 shooting, including 2-2 from 3-point range, in Arizona’s 75-66 victory over UNLV. She followed it up with another double-digit performance in the Cats’ 84-48 road win over Chicago State, scoring 12 points on 3-8 shooting, including 2-2 from deep, and 4-4 from the free throw line.

Swann averaged 15.5 points in 19.5 minutes per game, shooting a combined 11-17 from the field (64.7%) and 4-6 (66.7%) from 3-point range during the week. It’s the first weekly conference honor of Swann’s career, as well as Arizona’s first weekly conference honor of the season. With Arizona just two weeks into its tenure in the Big 12, she is also the first recipient of a Big 12 weekly honor in program history.

Lauryn Swann has two more chances to defend her Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor this week. The Wildcats (5-0) head north on Wednesday, 11/20, for matchup against Northern Arizona at 6:00 PM MST on ESPN+. On Saturday, 11/23, the Adia Barnes and Co. host Grambling at 6:00 PM MST on ESPN+.
