Arizona Men’s Basketball closed out 2024 with a bang, defeating TCU 90-81 in its first Big 12 conference game. While the Wildcats don’t play again until Saturday, that didn’t stop them from some fireworks to ring in 2025. On Wednesday, Bryce James, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James, committed to Arizona, he announced via social media.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound shooting guard is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com. The Chatsworth, California native is rated as the No. 30 player from the Golden State, 46th-best shooting guard, and No. 257 overall prospect in class of 2025. James ultimately chose the Wildcats after taking an official visit to Tucson in late November for the Arizona-Duke game. He also held offers from Duquesne, Ohio State, and USC.
Adam Finkelstein, Director of Scouting at 247Sports, described James as a “fundamentally sound player with solid perimeter size and a good early skill-set. He possesses clear shooting potential with naturally soft touch, compact release, and the ability to make both threes and pull-ups. His left hand is advanced for his age and he also has a good early understanding of the game. Physically, he has a solid build for an underclassman, but is still just growing into his body a bit and so far from a finished product.”
According to Jason Scheer of WildcatAuthority, his decision to commit to Arizona was largely in part due to Tommy Lloyd. In a post on X, Scheer cited Lloyd’s “patience and ability to develop players” as a key factor for James.
Bryce James is the second player committed to the Arizona Wildcats’ 2025 recruiting class. He joins five-star small forward Dwayne Aristode, a top-15 prospect who pledged his commitment in mid November.
Tommy Lloyd and Arizona now focus their attention on several other high profile prospects, including Koa Peat and Brayden Burries. With LeBron James appearances in the McKale Center on the horizon, some of those recruitment conversations might have just gotten a little easier.
