Just as they did a year ago, the Wildcats are leveraging the transfer portal to find Day 1 starters to replace critical needs on both sides of the ball. After making splash signings on special teams and offense, Danny Gonzales and the defense jumping in on the fun. On Tuesday, Arizona landed a commitment from Georgetown edge rusher transfer Cooper Blomstrom.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound defensive lineman spent the past three seasons in Washington, DC, racking up 117 tackles, 27 TFL, and 16 sacks during his career. As a junior, Blomstrom recorded 47 tackles, including 11.5 TFL and 7.5 sacks, along with three forced fumbles for the Hoyas. His best game of the season came against Fordham, where he finished with six tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Blomstrom is a two-time All-Patriot league selection, earning Second-Team honors in 2024 and First-Team honors in 2025.

He does not have a ranking from 247Sports.com, but did finish the year with a 79.4 overall grade from PFF.com, including an 81.5 tackling grade and an 81.3 pass rush grade.

With Riley Wilson out of eligibility, Blomstrom subsequently figures to be his replacement on the edge for Danny Gonzales’ defense next season opposite Dominic Lolesio.
