Recruiting from the FCS ranks paid dividends for Arizona’s coaching and recruiting staff over the last year. And while this year looks to be more of the same, with the staff valuing experience in the portal, that’s not stopping the Wildcats from also attracting former highly-touted talent in search of a new start. After taking an official visit to Tucson, Arizona has landed a commitment from USC wide receiver transfer DJ Jordan.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver has elite speed and quickness, which made him one of the top high school prospect in the nation two years. Jordan was ranked as the No. 7 prospect from California, 16th-best wide receiver, and No. 84 overall player in 247Sports.com’s Composite Ratings. He did not see any action as a true freshman for the Trojans, but appeared in four games this past season, hauling in five receptions for 38 yards.
Arizona receiver Tre Spivey announced via social media he is returning to Tucson next season, but top two wideouts, Kris Hutson and Javin “Nunu” Whatley, are both out of eligibility. With Seth Doege back for a second season and Noah Fifita returning under center, Jordan should a be Day 1 target in an offense that averaged 255.2 passing yards per game.
DJ Jordan is one of a number of new weapons for Fifita next season, alongside Illinois tight end transfer Cole Rusk and Southern Miss transfer tight end Shane King.
