Arizona continues to be aggressive adding players as college football approaches a week of the transfer portal being open. The Wildcats aren’t just adding players either; they are targeting specific positions of need based on players that have aged out and exhausted their eligibility. Thursday was the latest example, when Arizona landed a commitment from former Memphis linebacker Everett Roussaw Jr.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker had an impressive junior season as at Memphis. He finished the year with 64 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception in 12 games for the Tigers. His best game came at East Carolina, where he tallied 11 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble in the Tigers’ 31-27 loss.

Prior to his time in the Blue and Grey, Roussaw Jr. spent two seasons at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). As a Blazer, he appeared in 23 games, making eight starts as a true freshman. He recorded 125 total tackles, including 10 TFLs and 4 sacks, while also recovering two fumbles. The Atlanta, Georgia native was also a three-star prospect coming out of high school.

He joins a linebacker room that will feature rising senior Taye Brown, rising sophomore Myron Robinson, veteran Chase Kennedy, and more. With Max Harris out of eligibility, look for Roussaw Jr. to step in as his successor alongside Brown next season.

Everett Roussaw Jr. is the first linebacker and third defensive player Arizona has added during the transfer portal window, joining edge Cooper Blomstrom from Georgetown and cornerback Tyrese Boss from Wyoming. The Wildcats have now added seven players in total.
