Jayden de Laura will remain a Cat, just not the kind folks are used to in Tucson. The former Arizona quarterback announced on Monday he is transferring to Texas State.

Following an NCAA rule change that allows undergraduates to transfer twice without a waiver or sitting out a year, de Laura announced his intentions to transfer from Arizona back on Christmas Day. He remained with the team through the Alamo Bowl.

de Laura started in Arizona’s first four games this season, before suffering an ankle injury in the Wildcats’ 21-20 win at Stanford. After losing the starting job to reigning Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, Noah Fifita, JDL remained an integral part of the Wildcats’ success this season, often seen coaching, motivating, and supporting Fifita on the sidelines.

This season, Jayden de Laura threw for 1,120 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed for 121 yards and three more scores. In his two years in Tucson, de Laura threw for 4,805 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions, and rushed for another 243 yards and seven scores.

He is set to join a Bobcats team coming off an 8-5 season, including a 45-21 win over Rice in the First Responder Bowl.
