There’s an old saying, “an eye for an eye.” Well how about a “Wildcat for a Wildcat.” After UA safety Gunner Maldonado signed with the Kansas State Wildcats last Monday, the Wildcats in Tucson have landed a player in return. On Tuesday, K-State wide receiver Tre Spivey announced he will transfer to Arizona.

The 6-foot-4, 217-pound Chandler, Arizona native spent the past two seasons in Manhattan, Kansas. During that span, he appeared in 14 games, hauling in 15 receptions 184 yards and a touchdown. After redshirting in 2023, he will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The former three-star prospect was between Kansas State and Arizona coming out of high school. 247Sports.com rated him as the No. 13 prospect from Arizona, 78th-best wide receiver, and No. 545 overall prospect in the class of 2023. Spivey was also teammates with Arizona defensive back Genesis Smith and linebacker Taye Brown at Phoenix-powerhouse Hamilton High School.

Now that Tetairoa McMillan is off to the NFL, the Wildcats have loaded up at receiver for Noah Fifita. With Tre Spivey set to transfer to Tucson, Arizona has now added four pass catches through the transfer portal – New Mexico wide receiver Luke Wysong, Washington State wide receiver Kris Hutson, and Mercyhurst tight end Cameron Barmore. Spivey is also the 18th player Arizona has added to its 2025 portal class.
