Just as several members of Brent Brennan’s staff at San Jose State have reunited with him in Tucson, some of his former players have done the same.
Quali Conley is the first of the three Spartans to follow Brent Brennan to Tucson. Last season for the Spartans, the Fresno, CA native rushed for 842 yards and nine touchdowns, while averaging a career-high 6.4 yards per carry. Conley finished seventh in the Mountain West in rushing yards last season, and sixth in the MWC in rushing touchdowns.
Conley is also reunited with his former running back coach, Alonzo Carter, who spent the last seven seasons at San Jose State, before making his way to Tucson. On Wednesday, Carter described Quali Conley as an “unselfish player, because he shared the backfield, but still was averaging six yards a carry.”
Prior to his time as a Spartan, Conley spent three seasons at Utah Tech, where he rushed for 1,758 yards and 13 touchdowns, including a 1,095 rushing yard, eight touchdown season in 2022. He also hauled in 50 receptions for 447 yards and three touchdowns during his time as a Blazer.
He and fellow former-Mountain West running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt are set to bolster a running back that now looks to be one of the premier groups in the country.
