After seeing several key members of the secondary enter the transfer portal, the Wildcats have been busy replenishing that depth. On Wednesday, former Stanford defensive back Jshawn Frausto-Ramos committed to Arizona. He is the third defensive pickup from the portal for the Wildcats, all of which have been defensive backs.
The 6-foot-0, 190-pound Frausto-Ramos spent two seasons in Palo Alto. He appeared in 21 games, recording 40 tackles, including two sacks, as well as two forced fumbles and a PBU. This season, he finished with 22 tackles, both of his career sacks, and one forced fumble. His best game came against SMU, where he had eight tackles and a sack.
Coming out of high school, Frausto-Ramos was a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. 247Sports Composite rated the St. John Bosco player and Bellflower, CA native as the No. 29 prospect from California, No. 43 cornerback, and 417th-overall player in the class of 2023. He held an offer from the Wildcats during his recruitment, but cited then-Stanford defensive back coach Duane Akina as a large part of why he committed to the Cardinal.
Jshawn Frausto-Ramos is now the third defensive back transfer that’s committed to Arizona this week, joining Michael Dansby from San José State and Jay’Vion Cole from Texas. Frausto-Ramos will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Arizona.
