One week into his career at Arizona and Koa Peat is already a household name across college basketball. After a stellar collegiate debut, Koa Peat is the Big 12 Co-Player and Newcomer of the Week, as well as the NCAA National Player of the Week and National Freshman of the Week.

In the season opener win against the defending national champion and No. 3 ranked Florida Gators, Peat dazzled with 30 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals while shooting 11-of-18 (61.1%) from the floor. It is the second-most points scored by an Arizona freshman in their debut, behind only Eric Money’s 37-point performance in 1972. Peat is also the first player in Big 12 history to score 30 points and have five assists in their debut.

Peat followed up his legendary debut with an 18-point, three-assist outing in the win over Utah Tech, where he shot an efficient 6-of-7 from the floor.

On the week, Peat averaged 24.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting a staggering 68.0% from the floor and 70.0% from the free throw line.

Peat is the second Wildcat in Arizona program history to take home Big 12 Player of the Week honors, joining Caleb Love who earned the recognition on February 3, 2025, following his iconic shot and overtime performance against Iowa State.

Arizona returns to action on Tuesday, November 11, for an in-state showdown against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. The game tips off at 7:00 PM MST on ESPN+.
