There aren’t many better ways to celebrate your birthday than with a commitment, so that’s exactly what Adia Barnes did on Saturday. Arizona has picked up a commitment from 2024 point guard Lauryn Swann, from Long Island Lutheran High School (LuHi) in Brookeville, NY.

Swann, a 5’7 guard, is Arizona’s first pledge of the 2024 class. While Swann may not be ranked in ESPN’s HoopGurlz Top 100, she does lead the backcourt of the No. 2 high school women’s basketball program in the nation in LuHi, per Max Preps.

Swann is an effective scorer and defender, and is skilled on both ends of the floor. In LuHi’s most recent 117-33 victory over Brooklyn Law & Tech, Swann put up a team-high 38 points, along with seven steals. Her defensive energy will mesh nicely with Adia Barnes’ defense-first scheme in Tucson.

After putting together the No. 8 recruiting class in 2022, and the No. 3 recruiting class in 2023, Swann will join a backcourt set to feature rising-sophomores Jada Williams and Skylar Jones, as well as rising-junior guard Kailyn Gilbert, as Arizona transitions to the Big 12 next fall.
