The only thing better than adding one tight end via the transfer portal? Adding two. Following an official visit, Arizona has received a commitment from Southern Miss tight end transfer Shane King.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound freshman is a native of Gainesville, Georgia, and was a member of the Golden Eagles 2025 recruiting class. This past season, King appeared in four games for Southern Miss, hauling in two catches for 24 yards in the New Orleans Bowl. Since he only appeared in three regular season games, and bowl games do not count towards a player’s redshirt, King will have four years of eligibility remaining when he arrives in Tucson.

While King’s production was limited as a freshman, he was a standout receiver in high school. From his sophomore to senior year, King appeared in 19 games, securing 51 receptions for 817 yards and six touchdowns, per MaxPreps.com. He committed to Seth Doege and Josh Miller when they were at Marshall, but followed then-head coach Charles Huff to Southern Miss.

Tight end is a position of need for the Wildcats, with seniors Cam Barmore and Sam Olson exhausting their elgibility. Tyler Powell will return to Arizona next season after suffering a season-ending injury in the season opener against Hawaii. The Wildcats also added Illinois transfer Cole Rusk, giving Seth Doege and Josh Miller some much needed depth in the tight end room.
