The highest rated recruit in Arizona program history has officially etched himself into the record books. On Saturday, wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan became the all-time receiving yards leader at Arizona. The Wildcats would go on to lose 49-28 at TCU, but T-Mac has cemented himself as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, receiver in program history.

McMillan entered the game with 3,240 receiving yards, needing 112 yards surpass the record. His record-breaking reception came in the fourth quarter on an eight-yard pass from long time friend and Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita. With the reception, T-Mac now stands alone atop the record books with 3,355 career receiving yards in three seasons at Arizona.

“Man, it’s been a roller coaster ride, but shoot, God has blessed me with a bunch of opportunities, especially this opportunity, being able to put my name in the record books,” said T-Mac after the game.

Setting the all-time receiving record at Arizona is no small feat, but doing so with the former record holder as your wide receivers coach makes it that much more special. Arizona receivers coach Bobby Wade previously held the record, hauling in 3,351 yards during his career in Tucson from 1999-2002.

“That’s been the plan since day one, since he stepped in to the building. His idea, his vision for me was to break his record,” said McMillan on breaking Bobby Wade’s record. “We were able to do that tonight and it’s been a blessing to be able to be under his wing and him being able to teach me the ropes about this game.”

During 36-game career as a Wildcat, McMillan has hauled in 207 receptions for 3,351 yards and 25 touchdowns. This season, McMillan has 78 receptions for 1,251 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games. He is averaging 7.1 receptions per game and 113.7 yard per game (both career highs), and his 78-yard touchdown reception in the season opener against New Mexico is the longest of his career.

With Arizona eliminated from bowl game contention, Tetairoa McMillan has one more opportunity to pad his newly minted record as the UA’s all-time receiving yards leader. The Wildcats host the No. 14 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils in the Territorial Cup on Saturday, 11/30. The game kicks off at 1:00 PM MST and is televised on FOX.
