Becky Burke has been working hard to assemble a transfer portal class ahead of her first season at the helm of Arizona Women’s Basketball. Until now, she’s been primarily focused on building out the Wildcats’ backcourt. On Wednesday, former Texas Tech center Achol Magot announced she is transferring to Arizona.

The 6-foot-7 center was born in South Sudan, but grew up in Tucson, where she attended Salpointe Catholic High School, Sunnyside High School, and Southern Arizona Prep. She appeared in just nine games during her two seasons in Lubbock. After reportedly suffering a knee injury believed to be an ACL tear in February of 2023, she did not appear in any games for the Lady Raiders during her freshman season. Her best game came on the road at Iowa State, where she secured five rebounds and an assist in 10 minutes.

During her time at Southern Arizona Prep, Magot appeared in 16 games, averaging 13.8 points, 12.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 3.9 blocks per game. The three-time player of the game recorded a double-double in 10 of her 16 games.

Achol Magot is the second center transferring to Arizona under Becky Burke, joining former New Orleans big Nora Francois. The Wildcats now have including seven total transfers including Francois, Lani Cornfield (Buffalo), Mickayla Perdue (Cleveland State), Tanyuel Welch (Memphis), Kamryn Kitchen (Virginia), and Freddie Wallace (Kansas). With Montaya Dew officially returning to Tucson next season, Becky Burke and the Wildcats will need to add two to three more players to have a full rotation of players for next season.
