Brent Brennan and the Wildcats are bolstering both sides of the ball in what is shaping up to be a productive week in Tucson. And with a secondary that is depleted between NFL Draft declarations and exhausted eligibility, Danny Gonzales’ squad may have just gotten one of its most important pieces heading into next season. Following an official visit, Arizona has landed a commitment from Wyoming cornerback transfer Tyrese Boss.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defensive back is originally from Chino Hills, California, but spent the last two seasons in Laramie with the Cowboys. He appeared in one game as a true freshman in 2024. As a redshirt freshman in 2025, Boss burst on the scene, appearing in all 12 games for the Cowboys. He finished with 39 tackles and five pass breakups, earning a Mountain West Honorable Mention.
Boss, who is a top 30 transfer cornerback per 247Sports.com, will have three years of eligibility remaining.
He joins a secondary unit that has plenty of holes to fill heading into the 2026 season. Senior cornerbacks Ayden Garnes and Michael Dansby have exhausted their eligibility, while defensive backs Treydan Stukes, Dalton Johnson, and Genesis Smith have all played their final games as Arizona Wildcats after opting out of the Holiday Bowl. Smith has already declared for the NFL Draft after opting out of the bowl game.
Jay’Vion Cole, who was one of three Wildcats to lead the team with four interceptions, will return to Arizona for his redshirt senior season in 2026. The Wildcats also plan to lean heavily on Gavin Hunter, as well as Dajon Hinton and Coleman Patmon, all of which started in the Holiday Bowl.
Tyrese Boss is the second defensive player Arizona has added from the transfer portal, joining Georgetown edge rusher and outside linebacker Cooper Blomstrom.
