Becky Burke’s first full offseason at the helm in Tucson is already off to a busy start. Between a number of staff changes and now three players announcing their intentions to enter the transfer portal, the second-year head coach has her work cut out for her already. On Wednesday, Arizona Women’s Basketball forward Daniah Trammell announced with Talia Goodman of On3.com that she plans to enter the transfer portal.

The 6-foot-1 Trammell was originally committed to Buffalo, but flipped her commitment and followed Burke to Tucson. During her freshman season, the Cincinnati, OH native averaged 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game, while shooting 48.3% from the field. Trammell got off to a hot start to begin the season, scoring in double figures in four of the Wildcats’ first five games, including a career-high 22 points versus Northern Colorado. But she struggled in conference play, averaging just 5.9 points and 2.1 rebounds per game against Big 12 competition as the size, athleticism, and physical of play ramped up. Arguably, her most complete game came in the Big 12 season opener against Utah, when she finished with 12 points, three rebounds, one assist, two blocks, two steals, and zero turnovers, while shooting 6-11 (54.5%) from the field.

Daniah Trammell joins Tanyuel Welch and Blessing “Adde” Adebanjo on the list of players that plan to enter the transfer portal once it opens on April 6, leaving Becky Burke with a fairly substantial rebuild on her hands as she enters Year 2 at Arizona. After exhausting their eligibility, seniors Noelani Cornfield, Mickayla Perdue, and Nora Francois will also not be back next season.

While there is no official confirmation, as of right now, guards Molly Ladwig and Sumayah Suagpong will likely be back next season.
