By the time it’s all said and done, the recruiting class Becky Burke assembles in 2027 may turn out to be even better than her 2026 class. After kicking things off in August with a pair of dynamic commitments, the Wildcats added another on Sunday, giving Burke and Co. three four-star prospects to begin the ’27 class. Following an official visit, Canadian forward Ashley Vande Ven has committed to Arizona.
The 6-foot-2 forward is a native of Langley, British Columbia, but currently preps at Crestwood Secondary Prep located in Toronto, Ontario. While her offer list is not readily available, Vande Ven is one of the more sought after prospects in the class of ’27. Per ESPN, she is the 21st-rated forward and No. 82 overall prospect in the 2027 SportsCenter NEXT 100.
In addition to playing for the Lions, Vande Ven also represents her nation as part of Canada Basketball. She helped lead Canada to a silver medal in the 2025 FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup, averaging 8.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists through six games. This summer, she participated in the U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup, averaging 10.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in seven games to help Canada advance to the third place game. Her performance against the United States in the semi-finals – where she finished with nine points, seven rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block – earned her Gatorade Player of the Game honors.
Ashley Vande Ven is the third four-star commit in Arizona Women’s Basketball’s 2027 recruiting class. She will join four-star wing Brieana Brown from San Diego, CA, and fellow four-star forward Celsy Colombo from Buffalo, NY, in Tucson next fall.
