With a guard-heavy recruiting class, Becky Burke understands the importance of adding size in the post through the transfer portal. With the portal less than a week from closing, the Wildcats’ coaching staff has done exactly that. On Tuesday, former Maryland forward Breanna Williams announced she is transferring to Arizona.

The 6-foot-2 rising sophomore is a native of Billings, Montana, where she was a two-time Montana Gatorade Player of the Year. The former four-star recruit and top-50 prospect in ESPN’s 2024 rankings was a three-time First-Team All-Conference selection, three-time AA State Tournament MVP, and finished her career as the Skyview all-time leader in points (1,645) and rebounds (879), leading the Falcons to state championships as a sophomore and senior.

After redshirting as a freshman during the 2024-25 season, Williams appeared in 24 games last year, scoring in double figures three times. She averaged 4.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.4 assists, while shooting 48.6 percent from the field. Her most complete game came against Mount St. Mary’s, when she matched her career-high with 12 points, along with seven rebounds, three assists, while shooting 5-7 (71.4%) from the floor. In Big 10 play, Williams impressed in the 79-57 win over Northwestern, finishing with nine points, four rebounds, an assist, block, and a steal, while shooting 3-5 from the field and 3-3 from the free throw line.

Arizona has now added three players via the transfer portal, with Breanna Williams joining fellow post Gerda Raulusaityte from USC and former Cal guard Aliyahna “Puff” Morris. The Wildcats now have 10 scholarship players lined up for the 2026-27 season and will likely looking to add two to three more in the coming weeks, ensuring the front court has plenty of depth for next season.
