Loading up the tool box with plenty of players on the defensive ball appears to be Brent Brennan and Danny Gonzales‘ focus with the 2027 recruiting class. The Wildcats have already secured seven defensive commits, but have now landed one of their biggest pickups on that side of the ball. Following an official visit, 2027 three-star cornerback Evan Mack has committed to Arizona.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound cornerback becomes the latest Crean Lutheran (Irvine, CA) prospect to commit to the UA as the Wildcats look to recreate the 2022 Juice County recruiting class that featured quarterback Noah Fifita, wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, linebacker Jacob Manu, and tight end Keyan Burnett. Mack will join high school teammates Ty Johnson and Braylen Ross in Tucson. Three three, along with three-star quarterback Caden Jones, who is announcing his commitment on July 3, all took official visits to Tucson in mid-June before pledging their commitments to the UA – Ross committed to the Wildcats in early May after attending the Spring Showcase.

Mack is the No. 47 player from California, 64rd-best cornerback, and No. 613 overall prospect in the class of 2027, per 247Sports.com Composite Ratings. With a 0.8811 rating, it’s likely he’ll rise to a four-star prospect by the time he arrives in Tucson. Mack held offers from 22 programs, including BYU, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, USC, and more, but ultimately chose the Wildcats over ASU and Washington, where he also took official visits.

As a junior, he finished with 49 total tackles, two interceptions, and 10 pass deflections in 11 games. The two-way athlete began high school at Woodrow Wilson High School, where he hauled in a total of 31 passes for 691 yards and eight touchdowns, along with 48 tackles and three interceptions during his first two seasons. He is also a multi-sport athlete and talented basketball player, averaging 6.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game at Wilson as a freshman.

In addition to Evan Mack, Arizona remains optimistic it can land quarterback Caden Jones and bring the Crean Lutheran quartet to Tucson.
