It’s still hard to imagine life without Tetairoa McMillan in an Arizona uniform at times, but it appears the Wildcats may have just found their wide receiver of the future. And with a former wideout at the helm of the program, it seems only natural. Following an official visit to Tucson, 2027 four-star wide receiver Ty Johnson has committed to the Arizona Wildcats.

Johnson is part of a larger group of Crean Lutheran recruits expected to announce their commitments to Arizona in the coming days and weeks. For now, he joins wide receiver Braylen Ross, who pledged his commitment to the Wildcats back in May after visiting Tucson for the Arizona Spring Showcase.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound wide receiver currently attends Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, California, after transferring from Lampasas High School in Texas following his sophomore season. Per 247Sports.com Composite Ratings, Johnson is the No. 31 player from California, 53rd-best receiver, and No. 363 overall prospect in the class of 2027. He held offers from 25 programs, including ASU, Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia, Oregon, Texas Tech, and more before ultimately committing to the Wildcats over Kentucky and UCLA.

Last season, Johnson appeared in seven games, hauling in 25 receptions for 436 yards and nine touchdowns, including a 90-yard score against Leuzinger High School. Prior to transferring, he combined for 97 catches, 1,603 yards, and 19 touchdowns in his first two seasons at Lampasas (TX). He also has upside in the return game, scoring a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown as a sophomore.

Ty Johnson becomes the third wide receiver in the Arizona Wildcats’ 2027 recruiting class, joining Ross and in-state prospect Trey Smith. Offensive coordinator Seth Doege and the Wildcats now have six offensive players in their 2027 recruiting class.
