One of the Wildcats’ biggest challenges in Becky Burke’s first season in Tucson was competing with the size in the Big 12. As she enters her first full offseason at the helm, that continues to be a top priority, with the announcement that Arizona Women’s Basketball center Achol Magot intends to enter the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-7 Magot is a native of Tucson and played her high school basketball at Salpointe Catholic. She began her collegiate career at Texas Tech, but returned home after two seasons in Lubbock. In her lone season with the Wildcats, Achol averaged 3.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.2 blocks in 6.2 minutes per game. While the numbers aren’t eye popping, two of her best games of the season came against Bellarmine, where she finished with 10 points and five rebounds, and against No. 10 TCU in Fort Worth, where she recorded 12 points and seven rebounds.
With the announcement from Achol Magot, Arizona now has four players that intend to enter the transfer portal, with Magot joining Tanyuel Welch, Blessing “Adde” Adebanjo, and Daniah Trammell. While Becky Burke will need to fish in the portal for some experienced front court options, the Wildcats are adding 6-foot-6 Australian center Callie Hinder, who enrolled in January, in addition to 6-foot-2 wing Priyanka Ponnam in their 2026 recruiting class.
