It’s day one of fall training camp, but that isn’t stopping the Wildcats from continuing to attack the recruiting trail. After putting together an impressive recruiting class during the summer, Brent Brennan and the staff have added another big piece, and he’s from a school fans are starting to get familiar with. On Wednesday, 2027 three-star cornerback Jacob Whitehead committed to Arizona.
The 6-foot-2, 165-pound Whitehead is the fifth player in the Wildcats’ 2027 recruiting class from Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, CA, joining wide receivers Ty Johnson and Braylen Ross, quarterback Caden Jones, and fellow cornerback Evan Mack. Whitehead has an impressive list of offers, including Alabama, ASU, BYU, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Oregon, Texas, USC, Washington, and more. Per 247Sports.com, he is the No. 55 player from California, 71st-rated cornerback, and No. 702 overall prospect in the class of 2027.
National recruiting analyst Greg Biggins of 247Sports described him as “a long physical press man corner and uses his length to disrupt and re-direct opposing receivers. For his size, he’s technically sound and does a nice job playing the football. He can continue to improve his overall quickness and athleticism or he could end up growing in to safety at the college level.”
Whitehead earned all-combine honors at the All-American Bowl Combine in January of 2024, as well as an invite to the 2027 Navy All-American Bowl.
With the commitment from Jacob Whitehead, Arizona now has nine defensive players in its 2027 recruiting class. He is one of four prospective additions to the secondary, joining high school teammate Mack, as well as Texas safeties Luke Stevens and Jaylen Oliver.
