Official visit season is officially underway and the Wildcats are already capitalizing on having visitors from the class of 2027 on campus. One visit into the summer and two high school prospect have already committed to Brent Brennan and the UA and decided to call Tucson home once their collegiate careers begin. On Monday, Arizona landed a pair of commitments from Texas defensive backs Jaylen Oliver and Luke Stevens.
Oliver, a 6-foot-0, 175-pound safety, is a native of Houston, Texas and currently preps at Spring Westfield. He is not currently rated by 247Sports.com internally or in its Composite Ratings, but will likely be evaluated as a three-star prospect following his commitment to the Wildcats. During his junior season in 2025, Oliver tallied 41 tackles, including two tackles for loss (TFL). He also recorded three pass breakups and two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.
Following his official visit to the Old Pueblo, Oliver chose the UA over offers from 15 schools, including Illinois, Mississippi State, Pitt, and more.
Luke Stevens is a 6-foot-0, 180-pound safety who is originally from North Richland Hills, Texas and plays his high school ball at Fort Worth Christian. Per 247Sports.com Composite Ratings, he is the No. 170 player from the Lone Star State, 137th-best safety, and No. 1359 overall prospect in the class of 2027.
Stevens is a multi-sport athlete, something the Arizona staff continues to prioritize heading into its third season at the helm of the Wildcats. During his junior campaign, he finished with 37 tackles, including four TFL. Stevens also showed off his ball-hawking skills, recording five interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He took home the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 5A 200-meter championship (21.75) as a junior, while also winning silver in the 100 meters (10.97) and running a season-best 100-meter time of 10.53 to win a district title, per MileSplit.
After taking his official visit to Tucson, Stevens chose the Wildcats over offers from Baylor, Boston College, Houston, Kansas State, Northwestern, and more.
Following the commitments from Jaylen Oliver and Luke Stevens, Arizona now has six players committed in the class of 2027. They are the two lone defensive commits after Jalani Culpepper backed off his commitment a month ago. Oliver and Stevens join running back Wayne Shanks Jr., tight end Max Markofski, and wide receivers Trey Smith and Braylen Ross.
The Wildcats will continue to be active adding players throughout the week and month of June as they continue hosting prospects on campus for official visits.
